Resources for Meditators

We have compiled a list of individuals and initiatives that offer a variety of meditation resources. Most teachings with a certain depth are still to be found within a Buddhist context (Dharma). However, the listed Dharma teachers have a secular orientation.

Rob Burbea is one of the major inspirations for Deeply Human! We are deeply grateful for his life and work. Rob was a meditation teacher, musician and author who taught at Gaia House in Devon, England. He is the author of the groundbreaking meditation practice book entitled “Seeing That Frees: Meditations on Emptiness and Dependent Arising”—one of the main resources for our own practice and teaching of meditation. In May 2020, Rob died after several years of suffering from pancreatic cancer.

Dharma Seed is an online resource dedicated to making the Buddhist teachings of Insight Meditation and associated practices available to all. Our intention is to be a support for meditation teachers, their communities, students and meditation practitioners.

Sangha Live is a Dharma practice group that you can join from anywhere in the world. Each Sunday, renowned Insight Meditation teachers offer meditation instruction, teachings, and live Q&A on video.

The website of the late Michael Stone offers a variety of online courses, podcasts, videos and texts for meditators. Michael—an internationally-recognized Buddhist teacher, author, host of the Awake in the World podcast, and mental health advocate—died, having succumbed to bipolar disorder.

Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh is a global spiritual leader, poet and peace activist, revered around the world for his powerful teachings and bestselling writings on mindfulness and peace. His key teaching is that, through mindfulness, we can learn to live happily in the present moment.

Bodhi College is a unique educational organisation dedicated to contemplative learning. Our inspiration stems from the Dharma as found in the earliest Buddhist texts.

Charles Eisenstein is a visionary, public speaker and the author of several books. His website offers inspiring texts, videos, podcasts and other resources about inner growth and cultural transformation.

Christopher Titmuss is a senior Dharma teacher. He offers retreats and leads Dharma events worldwide. His teachings focus on insight meditation (vipassana), the expansive heart and enquiry into emptiness and liberation.

The writing and public lectures of Sam Harris cover a wide range of topics—neuroscience, moral philosophy, religion, meditation practice, human violence, rationality—but generally focus on how a growing understanding of ourselves and the world is changing our sense of how we should live.

Matthieu Ricard is a Buddhist monk, author, translator, and photographer. His website offers many resources about inner growth and cultural transformation.
